Thing is, if you have a checkered credit past, been late or delinquent on payments you will want to know the status of your credit records before the bank does. Here is where to call to obtain a credit report. Contact USA, 2 John St., corner of Broadway, 212-437-9203. Everybody should see their credit reports at least once a year, says owner Art Capri. His 33-year-old service obtains your reports for $99, just to make sure everything is okay. Sometimes, explains Capri, credit reports are outdated, containing delinquencies that were cleared long ago. Under New York law, paid charges can be removed after five years, if its ia satisfied judgment, says Capri. Since these derogatory credit reports can come back to haunt you. Capri specializes in removing obsolete and outdated information, for $85 per removal. People come to us with judgments that are five years old and they are still on the credit reports and this is common, he says.
